SHARE entries

You may notice that students' SHARE entries look a little different this week.  Using evidence in the story to draw conclusions is what makes us thinkers while reading any type of text.  So, students are working on "double entry diaries" where during and after reading we match evidence in the story to inferences, such as character's emotions.

In connection, in writing, we have written and discussed showing sentences (ie. Instead of saying "I'm mad," I'd write "My face burned red as I clenched my teeth and fists.") that convey emotions and now as readers, we are finding them and making inferences accordingly.

In one column, students copy quotes/evidence from the story, and in the other column, they make inferences.  It's all about character emotions this month.

Happy Reading :)
